Nestlé's first sales in the UK started in 1868, just a year after the company was founded. Nestlé opened its first UK factory in 1901. Croydon, Surrey is the home of Nestlé UK Ltd's head office. -
Our confectionery plant at York is the largest Nestlé factory in the world. Covering 142 acres,
the York site also plays a leading role in innovation - the Product Technology Centre acts as the chocolate R&D centre for Nestlé globally.
We are a member of the Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum; Business in the Community. Nestlé UK's community support and charitable activities take a variety of forms and are managed under the umbrella of the Nestlé Trust. The key area of support for the Nestlé Trust is young people - specifically teenagers aged 11-18 years old. The primary support of the Nestlé Trust is Make Space, a campaign developed in partnership with 4Children - the UK's leading childcare charity - starting a new network of modern clubs for young people. Nestlé has been awarded the Per Cent Standard, given to companies which donate a minimum of one percent of pre-tax profits. Now in its 20th year, the partnership with Book Trust, an independent educational charity working to bring books and people together, continues to bring the ever successful Nestlé Smarties Book Prize.
