The two guys who brought us ‘The Matrix trilogy’, Andy and Larry Wachowski, are back with this brightly coloured, effects-heavy remake of anime icon Tatsuo Yoshida's classic 1960s-era cartoon, ‘Speed Racer’. Young upstart Emile Hirsch stars as Speed, the plucky racing driver looking to win treacherous cross-country race The Crucible, with Christina Ricci as his bob-sporting girlfriend, Trixie and John Goodman as his supportive father, Pops. His gadget-loaded car is called the Mach 5 and he hardly ever loses a race.
