On April 17th, indigO2 will launch THE INDIGO2 LOUNGE. As well as the explosive Indigo Big Band, made up of some of the finest musicians in the country, the night will feature amazing, show stopping performances from the likes of soul songstress Carleen Anderson (Brand New Heavies, Young Disciples), Simon Webbe (Blue), as well as the U.K’s King Of Swing, Ray Gelato, along with one of the most exciting young singers this country has produced in years, Peter Grant.
Set in the fantastic indigO2 venue, the evening will include seated tables downstairs for a more laid-back atmosphere.
CARLEEN ANDERSON: As one of the most respected soul singers in the world, The indigO2 Lounge is thrilled to be presenting Carleen Anderson. As well as releasing critically acclaimed albums in her own right, Carleen is known to millions as the voice of bands such as The Brand New Heavies and The Young Disciples. She has also featured on stage and recorded with the likes of Paul Weller, Johnny Cash, Massive Attack, Ocean Colour Scene, Bryan Ferry, The London Community Gospel Choir, Paul McCartney, Incognito, and Jools Holland, along with many others. Carleen’s voice is drenched in soul blues and funk, and seeing her on stage at indigO2, backed by a rocking 17 piece band made up of the country’s finest musicians promises to be truly incredible.
RAY GELATO: Ray Gelato has firmly established himself as one of the most explosive performers around today, and has been hailed by the National press as the UK’s King Of Swing. Nominated for the last two years for BBC Radio 2 Artist of the Year, Ray has won himself a whole army of fans; Paul McCartney chose him to perform at his wedding, Bryan Adams and Richard Branson requested him for their private parties, Her Majesty the Queen twice asked for Ray to perform for her and her guests, and Robbie Williams requested Ray to open for him at his “Swing When You’re Winning” concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Ray’s been described by The Times as “A cross between Louis Prima and Dean Martin with a touch of Robert de Niro”, - do not miss Ray’s debut at Indigo2 with the incredible Indigo Big Band.”
SIMON WEBBE: As one of the key songwriting and performing ingredients of the band Blue, Simon Webbe was paramount to the band selling in excess of 10 million albums around the world. Simon will be appearing with the stunning indigO2 Big Band to perform his huge hits and some of the songs made famous by his idols. This is quite simply not to be missed.”
PETER GRANT: At the tender age of 20, and already with a top 5 album under his belt, Peter Grant is hotly tipped to become one of the voices of 2008. Having already appeared on TV to millions, Peter is wowing audiences all over the country with his live shows, which draw influences from the likes of Harry Connick Jnr and Bobby Darin to Elvis and Frank Sinatra.
