Macy Gray

indigO2 are proud to announce that Macy Gray, The Neville Brothers, Return To Forever and The Stylistics are all confirmed to perform as part of the indigO2 Jazz & Blues Series - an ongoing promotion beginning in July 2008 which will see appearances from global superstars, legendary artists and some of the most respected figures from the contemporary music world.

Since her emergence on the R&B scene at the turn of the millennium, Macy Gray has made a huge impression with her instantly recognisable voice and outlandish sense of style. The singer, producer and now, actress (having appeared in Spiderman and Training Day) took a while to make her mark on the musical map. Having played in a jazz / pop standards band in after-hours bars when she was young, her unique voice, drawing influence from Billie Holiday, Betty Davis and soul legends Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin, began to stand out and she was soon snapped up by Atlantic.

Macy's debut album, On How Life Is went on to sell more than 7 million copies worldwide and in 1999 she earned a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance with the hit single I Try. Her songs have appeared on the soundtracks for movies Rush Hour 2, Mona Lisa Smile, 8 Mile, Chicago and most recently Deja Vu.

With a new team of producers (including will.i.am) and a new album Big released in 2007, Macy Gray is sure to receive a rapturous response at indigO2 with her contemporary take on the R&B sound and a voice like no other.
