A 'One in a Million' chance to Ice Skate with Torvill & Dean
Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean today reveal that their Dancing on Ice Tour, now in its fourth year, is close to selling its millionth ticket since the live arena show began in 2007.To celebrate the occasion and as a special treat to fans, the person who buys the millionth ticket will have the once in a lifetime chance to skate with the legendary ice duo who were catapulted to instant fame following their flawless Bolero performance at the 1984 Olympics. The lucky buyer will get to spend one hour on the ice with the Olympic gold medalists Torvill & Dean. The lesson will be suitable for those with any level of ice skating from complete novice to professional. With ticket sales rapidly approaching the one million mark - the figure stands at just under 980,000 - tour producers estimate the millionth ticket could be sold as early as this weekend. This year's Dancing on Ice Tour opens on 8 April and has a fantastic line up of contestants including Inbetweeners star Emily Atack, 2Point4 Children actress Clare Buckfield, Coronation Street's Gaynor Faye, ex-Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain, Boyzone's Mikey Graham, ex-Footballers' Wives actor Gary Lucy, X factor star Ray Quinn and Emmerdale's Hayley Tamaddon who is still the bookies favourite to win the show. Christopher Biggins and Kyran Bracken also join the line-up this year as judges. They will sit on the panel alongside judges Karen Barber and Nicky Slater from the hit ITV1 series. The Tour kicks off in Sheffield and will travel around the country hitting The O2 in London on Friday 16 April for a 5 date/7 performance stay treating audiences to specially choreographed routines by skating legends Torvill & Dean. The format of the tour is the same as previous years and as in the hit ITV1 show, the audience will be able to use their mobile phone to text vote for their favourite dancing couple. The votes will then be added to the scores from the Judges to decide the winner. Once the votes have been counted, the winning celebrity will join their skating partner to perform a magical finale. As with the previous tours, all profits from text voting will go to charity; more than £80,000 has been raised to date. The first ever live show took place in Birmingham on 7 April 2007 following record ratings for the ITV1 show. Since then the Dancing on Ice Tour has performed to over 800,000 people. Celebrities over the last four tours have included Zaraah Abrahams, Stefan Booth, Kyran Bracken, Todd Carty, Gareth Gates, Duncan James, Bonnie Langford, Melinda Messenger, Lisa Scott Lee, Linda Lusardi, Roxanne Pallett, Jessica Taylor, Zoe Salmon, David Seaman and Suzanne Shaw.
