Darcey Bussell & Katherine Jenkins' VIVA LA DIVA Hits The O2

Prima ballerina, Darcey Bussell CBE, and international opera superstar, Katherine Jenkins will be bringing their Viva La Diva extravaganza to The O2 on May 10th 2008.

Bussell and Jenkins will reunite their talents to present a sensational fusion of song and dance, paying homage to the heroes and heroines that have inspired them.

Says Jenkins, “We’re really overwhelmed by the reaction and interest in our show. We never thought it would sell out so quickly and I am so thrilled that we are going to be able to perform it on a bigger scale next year.”

Directed by choreographer Kim Gavin, who has worked previously with the likes of Take That, the show will see two of Britain’s best loved and admired stars stretch each other’s discipline.

Darcey says, “Ballet has been my focus for 28 years. Now I am stepping into a variety of different styles of dance that I have always had a passion to perform. Katherine’s voice has an exceptional quality and I’m very much looking forward to combining our very different talents.”

Co-producer Steven Howard also explains – “Adding to the initial creative ideas of Darcey's, Katherine's and Kim's, we are delighted to have added the talents of songwriters Gary Barlow (Take That) and Tim Rice, former Royal Ballet star Jonathan Cope, and internationally renowned designer Julien MacDonald to the production. It promises to be a fantastic show, full of surprises utilising the incredible talents of all those who have made contributions to it!”

David Campbell, Chief Executive of AEG Europe, owners and operators of The O2 commented: “Viva La Diva is like nothing else The O2 has seen before. I for one can’t wait to see both of these divas take to the stage – their talent is world renowned.”
