February Date for Smashing Pumpkins at The O2
|
The Smashing Pumpkins are the latest band to play The O2 in 2008 – another world-class act to feature in the impressive line up next year. The band has already made a rapturous return to the live arena with a number of shows across North America and Europe in 2007. Smashing Pumpkins have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in music history. Formed in Chicago in 1988, they released 'Gish', their influential (and platinum) debut in 1991, which was followed by more platinum and multi-platinum albums including 'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness' and 'Siamese Dream'. The pivotal group's many hits include 'Disarm', 'Today', 'Cherub Rock', '1979', 'Tonight, Tonight' and 'Bullet With Butterfly Wings' - songs that defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate, influencing a whole new generation. David Campbell, Chief Executive of AEG Europe, said: "Smashing Pumpkins stunned crowds at the Leeds and Reading festivals with their performance and I'm sure they will be equally inspiring at The O2 in February." Tickets are priced at £32.50. |
