Gorillaz Announce UK Arena Tour

Gorillaz to play two shows at The O2 as only London dates.

Plastic Beach arrived in Camden at the Roundhouse last week as the music of Gorillaz was performed over 2 nights to stunning critical acclaim. The music of Gorillaz which mesmerised the sold out audiences was played by Damon Albarn, Bashy, De La Soul, Mick Jones, Kano, Little Dragon, Mos Def, National Orchestra for Arabic Music, Gruff Rhys, Shaun Ryder, Paul Simonon and Bobby Womack.

Today it was announced that Gorillaz will be playing two shows at The O2 in London on 14 and 15 September as part of a UK arena tour.

With songs from all 3 albums (Gorillaz, Demon Days and Plastic Beach) the arena tour will include full production, featuring multi-media video animation, artwork and film.

Gorillaz latest album Plastic Beach recently debuted with chart success around the world, including #2 positions in the US and UK, and #1 chart positions in Australia and Austria. The album went to #1 in the Billboard Alternative Chart, and #1 in digital charts in USA, Australia, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.

O2 and Gorillaz are joining forces in a groundbreaking collaboration to support Gorillaz forthcoming Plastic Beach UK tour which includes a show at The O2 on 15 September. The partnership will see a significant joint through-the-line campaign to promote the tour and let O2 customers know they can get priority tickets to the shows. The campaign will incorporate TV advertising, digital, media partnerships and the latest technology, including augmented reality.

Tickets for the shows at The O2 are priced at £45 and will be on sale from 9am on Friday, 21 May 2010 via www.theo2.co.uk (all tickets subject to a booking fee).
