Half Term Fun - The David Beckham Academy On Side at The O2

The world's most popular music venue, The O2, has teamed up with the David Beckham Academy to offer some fun activities for children over the half-term.

Previously home to The Beach, The Ice Disco, The Slopes and last year's highly successful Summer of Sport, the London Piazza within The O2, will roll out the astro turf and host 'Foot and Head Tennis' workshops for 8-16 year olds between Saturday 24 May and Sunday 31 May, 11-5pm.

David Beckham's hand picked football coaches will be on side to help young footballers learn control and passing skills, referee and offer demos. Prizes will be given throughout the week with a daily prize of a 1 day soccer course at the Academy awarded to the winning team/individual based on number of games won.

Participants will play individually or in pairs - 8 on the pitch at a time. Games will be 10 minutes in length, 3-5 touches per side before returning the ball over the net, and the winner stays on. There will a charge of £2 per entry and kids can play as often as they like (preference given to those that have not had a go) and children do need to wear trainers to take part.

Alison Bullock, general manager of The David Beckham Academy commented: "Foot and Head Tennis, with the ability to score goals using rebound boards and show skills, helps budding footballers learn control and passing skills in a fun way. It offers a great taster into the courses we offer and The O2 is a brilliant space to showcase that."

To kick start half-term, The FA Cup Trophy Tour visits The O2 in an 18 wheeled truck that transforms into 400m2 of free FA Cup football activities. Children can learn, and fans can practice, with opportunities to do so with a variety of contests and fun challenges, all completely free! FA Cup Truck comes to Peninsula Square at The O2 on 23 May from 11am - 5pm.

A trip to the DBA/FA Cup activities could also be combined with a visit to one of The O2's 26 bars and restaurants, a show in the arena or indigO2, or to see a film at the 11 screen Vue cinema or the British Music Experience.
