Khan announced to headline at The O2 on 14 July
|
Promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that Willie Limond's Commonwealth lightweight title will be up for grabs as Khan steps up in class to tackle the talented Scotsman. 20-year-old Olympic Silver medalist Amir Khan has raced to 12-0 (9) since turning professional in July of 2005, with his last fight seeing him stop Steffy Bull inside just three rounds. Khan has already won the IBF Intercontinental light-welterweight title as a professional, beating Frenchman Rachid Drilzane over 10 rounds in London in December. However in Limond he will face a dangerous test - the Glaswegian is a seasoned championship boxer with just one defeat in 29 outings. Tickets will be available to book from 9:00am on Friday 27th April 2007 through www.theo2.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling the Ticketline on 0871 984 0002. Philip Beard, CEO of The O2, commented: "Our new, state of the art arena is the first of its kind for London and Europe and is capable of hosting a range of sports to a standard previously impossible on this side of the Atlantic. We're excited to announce that Amir Khan and Willie Limond will be headlining at The O2 arena for what is sure to be a memorable date in British boxing." Frank Warren, Amir Khan manager and promoter, commented: "This is a fantastic opportunity for Amir to get a title under his belt in the run up to the 2008 Olympic Games; I can think of no better place for him to do so than in the stellar surrounds of The O2 arena. Fans will be able to experience a world class act at a world class venue." |
