Summer of sport at The O2

The summer of sport event will run in the London Piazza area of The O2 from Sunday, 20th July 2008 to Friday, 5th September 2008. The event will be open from 11:00 to 22:00hrs, 7 days a week, for 7 weeks. The event aims to deliver a memorable sporting experience for all age groups. We aim to encourage individuals to renew their interest in sport and carry that spirit into The 2012 Olympics, which The O2 will be very much a part of. The space will be designed to draw themes from typical British parks to the English garden. It will be an exciting and welcoming space that will surround a 20m x 20m 'Activities' area that is positioned below a giant LED TV screen. This screen will show live broadcast sports and other pre-recorded material relating to our partners. The Activities area will be used to engage our guests in sports ranging from Cricket to Olympic challenges. We are partnering with National and grassroots organisations to deliver an engaging and exciting program of sports activities and sports related entertainment. We aim to bring some glamour to the event with the attendance of public figures and known sports personalities to The O2 - see the website each week for details. The Olympics and many other sporting events will be shown on our giant screen which will create a great meeting point for families and Londoners to come and support their favourite athletes. We will also going to be showing a film every Sunday (sporting themed) and also every day there will be every day at 3pm a children's story time and also an area for the younger children to play hop scotch and play in a small sand pit area.
