The British Open Squash Championships Comes To The O2

The O2, the world's most popular music and entertainment venue, today announced that the British Open Squash Championships will take place on London Piazza, the large event space at The O2, from Monday 14 to Sunday 20 May 2012.

England have some real contenders to take home the title on home soil but they need your support.

Yorkshire pair James Willstrop and Nick Matthew are at World No.1 and No.2 respectively and have a fierce on court rivalry. Willstrop will be hoping to avenge his 2009 British Open defeat to Matthew, where the pair competed in an epic five game match which went down in history as one of the all-time greatest battles.

Londoners Peter Barker and Daryl Selby will be relishing the chance to play in their home city, with Peter Barker comfortably in the World Top Ten and Daryl Selby sitting just outside.

In the women's event England's World No.2 Jenny Duncalf will be wanting to overcome the formidable Malaysian Nicol David who looks strong at World No.1. Lancashire's Laura Massaro is a force to be reckoned with after having a fantastic year on the professional tour, reaching a career high of No.3 and winning the US Open.

The British Open is the most prestigious and iconic squash tournament in the world.

In May the world's best players are coming to The O2 in London to battle it out to become champion of the tournament hailed as the Wimbledon of squash.

Feast your eyes on some of the world's best athletes, where combat is almost literally Gladiatorial and the court becomes a glass coliseum before thousands of ecstatic fans.
