US Funnyman Chris Rock Comes To The O2
|
Emmy and Grammy Award-winning comedian Chris Rock has announced he is to return to the UK after the American leg of his 'No Apologies' tour to play The O2. The show, on Friday 23rd May, will mean Chris now becomes the first comedian to play at London's hottest entertainment venue. In January, Rock headed to the United Kingdom where he performed for the first time ever overseas. Rock immediately sold out his original set of 2008 U.K. tour dates, and to satiate the fervent demand, an additional week-long overseas leg was added, and soon sold out. Critical acclaim for the shows followed, and the clamour for tickets has reached fever pitch resulting in the announcement that Chris will return to the UK to play The O2. David Campbell, Chief Executive of AEG Europe, commented: "We are delighted to be able to accommodate Chris Rock and his exuberant brand of humour on his return to the UK. Along with the record breaking four nights of Lee Evans we have in October we are proud to be able to add comedy as another string to our entertainment bow." Released on the back of the 'No Apologies' tour is CHEESE AND CRACKERS: THE GREATEST BITS featuring 19 tracks of Rock's most notorious moments and showcasing the Brooklyn-raised comic's insight on everything from race relations, politics and sex. Most of the material comes from his legendary HBO specials, including the Grammy- and Emmy-winning BRING THE PAIN, Grammy Award-winning BIGGER & BLACKER, and 2004's NEVER SCARED, which was also awarded a Grammy for Best Comedy Album. Tickets are on sale from 10am Friday 25th January. Chris Rock will be the first stand-up comedian to perform at the venue. Box office tel: 0844 856 0202 or visit www.theo2.co.uk. |
