Glow - featuring The Raid, Mad Dog, The Manic Shine and more
Now it it’s 8th session, GLOW showcases the best in British emerging talent. The next event on 16th July features some of the best breaking indie rock acts the UK has to offer. From it’s inception in early 2009, GLOW events have provided a platform for tomorrow’s stars, affording artists the opportunity to obtain radio and press features, industry attention and most importantly new fans!
16th July 2011 features:
The Raid are a hotly-tipped alternative indie band from Hemel Hempstead UK.
Amongst reviews in NME, BBC, XFM and others, The Raid's music and live show have been described as 'timeless stuff, glorious, loud, brash, totally innovative and awe-inspiring'.
Having just finished the recording of their debut album they are using July 16th at GLOW as the launch of their debut single ‘Heads Or Tales’. “Marvellously straightforward, loud and brash rock'n'roll from a hotly tipped five piece”– Nuts Magazine
Mad Dog are a hard hitting three piece blues rock band already recognised within the revered circles of bands such as Them Crooked Vultures, Queens Of The Stone Age, and The Raconteurs. With powerful cranked-up riffs and simple hard-hitting melodies, this year has seen the band storm SXSW in Texas and record their debut album in the US.“They sound like all the greatest bands from the 70s, the music I grew up on, but it still sounds new… how the hell have they done that?” – Michael Pagent (Bullet for My Valentine)
The Manic Shine are a London-based quartet that intertwine Blues, Rock and Electro elements. Tracks from their self titled 3 track EP, recorded at The Animal Farm Studios in London, are receiving radio play on over 15 UK radio stations at present. “It is no surprise that their music sounds so good...They are blazing a new path” – Altsounds
Jimmy Sharp’s storytelling style song writing will captivate the listener giving them an insight into his background and experiences. His songs are bound to excite his audience brainwashing you with his infectious hooks and catchy melodies.
“intelligent folk pop” – Bexley Times
Fused combine elements of rock and indie with a twist of grunge, with a collection of catchy hooks and sing-a-long choruses. “Invocative of early U2 and bouts of Oasis and REM” – The Independent
Live Politics share the musical influences of Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and a vocal style somewhere between Paul Weller and Joe Cocker, a refreshing new sound of rock music sculpted by soulful melodies; that is Rock 'n' Soul.
GLOW on 16th July promises to be a fantastic evening of live music and a chance to see six incredible artists burst onto the arena stage. Support live music at a grass roots level and be part of the next wave of British talent.
