Wheelchair Tours

We want as many people as possible to enjoy Up at The O2, so we now offer climbs for wheelchair users.

How to book your Wheelchair Tour

Each wheelchair booking includes a complimentary ticket for a Personal Assistant and the option to purchase tickets for up to 8 friends and family.

Wheelchair climbs are available on demand, subject to availability, so it is essential that you call us to book your slot. This also allows us to provide you with all the information you need to have the best possible experience.

The wheelchair tour covers an extended period of 3 hours to allow for any additional support and requirements of climbers. The estimated time to complete the climb for the group is between two and three hours.

Wheelchair climbs are more susceptible to cancellations due to the higher likelihood of inclement weather during the Autumn and Winter seasons. Wheelchair climb slots are available throughout the Summer and Spring.

Important information

  • Up at The O2 will provide a bespoke wheelchair. Users need to self-transfer into the chair if this is not possible then a personal assistant or family member trained in manual handling can assist with the transfer. A full room tracking hoist is available but the wheelchair user must provide their own sling. Up at the O2 staff will not be allowed to provide assistance to effect the transfer between chairs.
  • The Seat Width of our fixed wheelchair is 45cm / 18 inches
  • The Seat Depth is 40cm / 16 inches
  • Whole frame of the fixed wheelchair:
    Width - 70cm / 28 inches
    Height - 99cm / 39 inches (from floor to the top of the back rest)
  • The climb will be conducted by 4 guides, who will use a pulley system to assist you on the climb. On the descent only, you will descend backwards, again fully assisted by the guides and there is an option of a additional neck support/ headrest on our fixed wheelchair.
