Mazhar Fuat Özkan (MFÖ), the legendary pop/rock band of Turkey, will perform at indigo at the O2 on March 18th!
Mazhar Alanson first met Fuat Güner in 1965 and the duo appeared together in the band Kaygısızlar, which also contained Ali Serdar, Semih Oksay and Fikret Kızılok. Özkan Uğur, not yet acquainted with the duo who had started to work with Barış Manço, was accompanying musicians such as Kurtalan Ekspres, Erkin Koray and Ersen ve Dadaşlar at the time.
Mazhar and Fuat started their musical journey as a duo and released their debut album titled ‘’Türküz Türkü Çağırırız’’ (1973), featuring ‘’Güllerin İçinden’’, a song which would later become a huge hit, for the first time. Özkan Uğur joined them in 1976 with Ayhan Sicimoğlu and Galip Boransu to form the quintet called İpucu Beşlisi. While the trio went separate ways after İpucu Beşlisi disbanded, Fuat Güner and Özkan Uğur started composing songs for the plays of Ferhan Şensoy. They later got back together with Mazhar Alanson to play behind Sezen Aksu, Ajda Pekkan and Seyyal Taner.
The release of ‘’Ele Güne Karşı’’ (1984) was the first step of MFÖ in a career which would make them become a domestic phenomenon with a total of 13 albums (3 best of, 10 studio albums), many huge hits and sold-out concerts throughout the country. MFÖ represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1985 and 1988, with the songs ‘’Diday Diday Day’’ and ‘’Sufi’’ respectively. Working with esteemed musicians such as Fahir Atakoğlu and Yavuz Çetin, the band stood out, especially with its fun and dynamic live performances.
Songs such as Ele Güne Karşı, Ali Desidero, Güllerin İçinden, Sarı Laleler, Sakın Gelme, Mazeretim Var Asabiyim Ben, Sude, Yalnızlık Ömür Boyu and Buselik Makamına paved their ways towards the legendary status they currently enjoy in the Turkish music scene
