Peter Capaldi is the new Dr. Who
This week, Peter Capaldi was announced as the twelfth Dr. Who as he replaces Matt Smith. He’s a popular choice among the diehard fans as he’s already appeared in a previous episode, as well as the spin-off series, Torchwood.
Hang on. We know what you’re thinking. He’s that sweary bloke from The Thick of It, right? Yes, he is, but Armando Ianucci – writer of the satirical comedy stepped in to reassure us. He tweeted: “There can’t be a funnier, wiser, more exciting Time Lord than Peter Capaldi. The universe is in great hands.” Phew.
The Edinburgh Fringe starts 2-26 August
The Edinburgh Fringe has begun for another month of comedy, theatre and music. The yearly shindig sees a whole host of established and budding talent head to the Highlands in the hunt for stardom.
It’s the place where most comedians begin their careers and has already seen the likes of Russell Howard, Miranda Hart, Lee Evans and Micky Flanagan break onto the scene. What’s that you say? Yes, you can still get tickets for their shows at The O2. But hurry! If you’re up in Edinburgh, be sure to head over to the Pleasance Courtyard or the Gilded Balloon for side-splitting fun.
