Event Details
Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox will be embarking on a larger scale, UK tour starting on 8th February. Following a sold out tour in June 2014, the act has deepened their commitment to the UK by adding twice as many shows, more cities, and doubled the venue capacity to accommodate for the ever-growing demand. Due to demand a second London show was recently added at indigo at The O2 for Saturday 22nd March.
Proving that everything new can be old again, pianist/arranger Scott Bradlee became a viral pop sensation after creating a series of clips for YouTube (over 887k subscribers and nearly 165 million views – more than half of those numbers earned in the past 6 months) that finds him and his ad hoc group Postmodern Jukebox reworking 21st century pop hits in a variety of vintage styles.
Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox have transformed Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" into a '50s-style doo wop number, gave Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" a '20s jazz accent, crossed Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" with Irish folk music and showed how Ke$ha's "Die Young" would work as a classic country tune. More recently Scott has been turning Taylor Swift into vintage cabaret with their take on Blank Space, jazzing up Meghan Trainor’s All about that bass and adding a vintage bluegrass flair to Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda.
Long Island-born Scott Bradlee grew up with a taste for jazz and classic standards, and he rose to a successful career playing supper clubs and night spots in New York City. By his own admission, Bradlee regarded most pop and rock tunes as unrefined, but, as he himself put it, "As a relentless devil's advocate, I then found that by simply altering the context of such songs, I could find quite a bit of artistic merit inside of them."
After Postmodern Jukebox's cover of "We Can't Stop" racked up nearly 12 Million views on YouTube, Bradlee and his revolving door of seemingly endless talent have become the go-to YouTube channel for music you have to hear.
The collective have released four albums in the past year (all available on iTunes) which have all gone into top 5 on the Billboard charts and the most recent release, ‘Selfies on Kodachrome’, is currently sitting at #1.
Live, Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox shows are more than just stand-alone concerts – They’re events. They transport audiences back in time to the golden age of the 20’s-40’s when jazz was more than just music, it was a lifestyle and a rebellion against the status quo. The postmodernist shows blend the perfect mix of familiarity with originality. The shows variety act format brings multiple singers to the stage with each one shining in their own way.
So for the vintage sound you love with the songs you know, these are shows not to be missed.
Don’t forget to come dressed in your vintage get-up to feel truly catapulted back to the nostalgic era.
