The O2 is committed to reducing its environmental impact and leads the way with other venues as part of AEG1Earth’s global sustainability programme. AEG has publically confirmed its 2020 Environmental Goals to cut greenhouse gas emissions, reduce water use in water-stressed areas and increase its recycling and reuse rates across all of its venues.
The O2 currently commits less than 1% of its 3,500 tonnes of waste per annum to landfill; segregating all oils, cardboard, wood, food, glass and Dried Mixed Recyclables to reduce waste impact. The venue, like many others in the sports and entertainment industry, has long-term goals to reduce the use of plastics and is working with suppliers and partners to find sustainable ways of achieving this.
