Formed in Los Angeles in 1976 by Soul Train creator Don Cornelius and music executive Dick Griffey, Shalamar became a defining force in late ’70s and ’80s R&B, funk and dance music. With 18 UK Top 75 hits, 11 Top 40 singles, four Top 10 hits and over 25 million records sold worldwide, their influence on popular music and dance culture remains unmistakable.
